What's new in the world of Jackson County Line . . .

Thanks to the folks who came out to Coffee Underground last weekend.  It's a beautiful city, a great venue, and we had a great trip up and back.  A good friend recently had less of a good trip though.  JCL listener and fan Ben sent us this picture.  He was apparently biking along, minding his own business, when out of the blue an "older American" (87 years old, blue hair, forehead at steering wheel level, left blinker on) creamed him from behind.  While we regret his injuries, we're glad to see the shirt was undamaged and hope that this particular picture was used in the police blotter of his local paper.

In less traumatic news we're really looking forward to rocking out a bit at Smith's next Wednesday.  Leave the kids at home for this one and we'll see you around 9 as we open up for LA band Shurman.  If that's not your speed then come find us on 9-28 at 11 AM at the Canton Riverfest.  Bring the kids and grandma (just make sure you drive)!  This was a great show last year and we're thrilled to be back.

thanks, jcl

Hello and thanks for stopping by.  Hopefully you heard that we're giving away a demo copy of one of our newest tunes right off the mixing board, "8-29".  If you're wondering why the date rings a bell it's because that's the date that hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.  We figured with the hurricane season once again in full swing (and with Gustav hitting 3 years and 3 days later!) it was the least we could do to help remember those who struggled through it and remind ourselves of what was really important in life.  If you like it, please right click, save as, and then send it on to anybody you'd like.  It's not the fully mixed and mastered version that will be on the new album, but we still wanted to share and hope you will too.

Listen and download here.

While we're sharing some good news we're also pleased to let you know that Cade will be sticking with us.  We'd have all missed each other too much and are truly glad he's back.  We've also recently been joined by our good friend Johnny who will be adding a little guitar texture to the mix so be sure to check out our next few shows to see how things are getting better all the time.

thanks, jcl

We're just recovering from the spectacular trip we had up to the Holly Theater in Dahlonega.  The bus trip was a blast, the costumes back stage were even more fun, and the spiders even seemed to get into it.  Many thanks to those who made the trip with or without us and be sure to check the shows page for 3 shows next month!

thanks, jcl

If you signed up for the road trip you should have already gotten an email confirming details of the trip.  If you didn't, drop Tim a note at the address below.

If you didn't sign up, we just had to step up to a bigger bus which means we've got a few fresh seats open as of this morning.  Follow the directions below ASAP and we'll get you a ticket and a seat!

thanks, jcl

JCL is hitting the road and we want YOU to come with us!

We're playing at the beautiful historic Holly Theater in down town Dahlonega on August 9th.  Of course you could drive up to see this spectacular show but wouldn't you rather save some gas and catch a ride with a friend?  How about catching a ride with 40 or 50 friends, all of whom love the JCL?

We've got a beautiful charter bus complete with a full tank of gas, air conditioning, a rest room, a few coolers full of our "favorite beverages", a few snacks, and the best part... room for up to 45 of our biggest fans!

Here's the deal, for $35 (or two for $65) you will get a round trip seat on the JCL tour/party bus and a ticket to the show.  We'll leave from the Roswell area at around 3:30 the afternoon of the 9th.  We'll have a nice drive north and enjoy the company and the scenery.  Who knows, the band might even need to warm up a bit to get ready for sound check.  You'll be on your own for dinner (there are lots of great places on the old town square) and then you'll enjoy the show and what promises to be a legendary ride home.

We can only take 45 people max (and we need at least 25 to make it happen), so here's what you need to do to reserve your spot...

Send an email to tim@jacksoncountyline.com no later than July 28th.  Please include the number of tickets you would like, the first and last name of each person who wants a ticket, and a primary contact phone number for your group.  It is first come, first served.  You'll receive a confirmation email with payment and departure/arrival details in approximately 8 days.  Keep an eye on the web site for updates as well.  Also take a peek at the Shows page as we've added a few shows in September!

What a fantastic weekend!  Huge thanks to the folks at Rhythm and Hues for having us last Friday.  It was a great venue, we enjoyed some great coffee and had a great show.  Welcome to our new email list friends, we look forward to seeing you at many shows in the future!

The next night at Eddie's Attic was spectacular as well.  Bethany and Angel were great and we couldn't have been happier with the huge crowd.  Thanks to everyone for coming out and keep sharing the JCL with friends and family!  Thanks also to Andy Clement for the fantastic photos from this night, many of which are up in the Gallery now.

You may have heard through the rumor mill (or perhaps would like to start a rumor mill for us?  we hear it can make for great press?) that Cade the bass player has decided to leave the band.  He will, but is sticking with us for a few more shows as we start the search for his replacement.  Please be assured that we all love Cade and it was a decision made in both his and the bands best long term interests.  He's a great bass player, a great friend, there is certainly no ill will, and we're looking at it as the end to the first chapter of the kick ass novel that will continue to be Jackson County Line.

Things have been busy with JCL.  Our recording trip to the mountains was a great success and we're putting the finishing touches on what will be a fantastic live album to come out later this year.  Now that we're done with that we're ready to play again!

Two shows in two nights!  A bit odd perhaps but they're on opposite ends of town and we're hoping to see a lot of familiar faces and make a lot of new friends at both.  Heck, come to both!  Start with us on July 11th at 'Rhythm and Hues'.  It's a once-a-month coffee house in Marietta.  We're headlining so come out early and enjoy some great coffee, some great company, and some great music.

After that we're heading back to Decatur for an evening at Eddie's Attic Saturday night, July 12th.  This is going to be a spectacular evening.  Up first are Bethany Dick and Angel Snow so make sure you're there when the doors open.  This is our first big weekend headlining show at Eddie's too so make sure you bring all your friends and neighbors!
