A belated happy new year to all from JCL.  We've actually seen lots of you and have been keeping very busy for 2010 to date though so we don't feel too bad about it.  We've had a few great shows including a great trip back to Birmingham and a fantastic intimate show at Smith's Olde Bar with good  friends Roxy Watson.  We're branching out a bit next week and heading down to Columbus, GA to perform at The Loft on February 27th.  Make it a road trip or call all your military friends and send 'em our way.

Recording goes very well.  That's all we'll say there.

peace, jcl

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Five Spot last night.  We had a great time, really enjoyed Leroy Powell, and really enjoyed playing.

Just a quick heads up that we've had to reschedule our show at the Crimson Moon in Dahlonega.  Never fear though, we'll still be playing that night just closer to home.  We'll be at Rhythm and Hues in Marietta.  Check the tour page for details.  We're still hammering out dates to make it up to Dahlonega but we'll shoot everybody an email when the time comes.

thanks, jcl

Thanks for a fantastic night at the Park Tavern for 99X's Unplugged in the Park.  We'll post some pictures soon!

The next exciting JCL news is that we're performing and recording for a live webcast for Dirty South TV this Wednesday, the 26th, at 8PM.  If you're in town please come to The Five Spot and let 'em know that you're with us.  If you're less local you'll need to head to dirtysouthtv.tv and register.  Sooner is better than later 'cause it will take you a few minutes and you'll be all ready to go for Wednesday night if you do it in advance.  Registration details are here.  Thanks for coming and/or watching!

Don't forget about the Rome show!  Details are immediately below.

We're just back from a great trip to Birmingham where we had a fantastic show at O'kafes.  It was great to meet and hear Maia Sharp as well as a great room full of new friends and fans.

We're back to Eddie's in a few weeks but the important things to remember right now are that we'll be on GPB and DaveFM over the next few weeks and that tickets are on sale for our show in the Rome City Auditorium with the Little Country Giants.  Sorry we have to charge a bit more online because of credit card fees, but you can get them at the Rome Visitors Center or the door for $10 adult or $8 student.

Jackson County Line is BUSY!!!

We had a great show last week at Kavarna and had a fantastic time and made some great new friends in Dahlonega at the Frog Hollow Treehouse.  We're looking forward to doing both again soon.

Hope you've been checking out the Shows page and have seen how many great shows we've still got lined up for this summer.  Your next chance to see us is July 25th in Birmingham, AL at Okafes.  We're very excited to be following that up with a return to Eddie's Attic on August 14th.  Before that though be sure to tune your radios in because...

On August 1st we'll have one or two songs featured on Georgia Public Broadcasting.  Ironically Atlanta doesn't have a strong GPB station so local folks can hit www.gpb.org/radio and listen online or find an affiliate station that might come in for you.  The following week on August 9th we'll be featured on DaveFM 92.9 as a part of the weekly "Inside Eddie's Attic" show.  Both shows start at 8PM.

After that we're thrilled to be playing Unplugged in the Park at Park Tavern.  We've loved going to these shows for years and are looking forward to getting a chance to play with beautiful Piedmont Park as our background.

We've got a December 5th show in Asheville and we'll certainly add a few shows in the in-between months but we're excited to have completely and totally and officially booked studio time (again) for the new album.  Details will follow when we have it in our hands!

Hello again!

Hope you've been checking out the "Shows" page and have seen how many great shows we've got lined up for this summer.  We're starting off in just a few weeks with a trip to Birmingham to play the Do-Dah-Day Festival.  From there we hit 3 shows in 3 weeks starting with a lunch time slot at the Virginiga Highlands Festival followed by a trip to the Treehouse in Dahlonega and finishing with a return to Kavarna with our good friends Arlington Priest.

Looking a bit farther ahead we'll be back at Eddie's in August and have huge plans for a trip to Rome, GA to play in the Rome theater with the Little Country Giants!  We're finishing pre-production on the second album and are really looking forward to getting back into the studio.  We've decided to stop making predictions as to expected dates so just plan on it being worth the wait!

A quick tour and studio update from JCL.

We're pleased to announce another local show, March 19th at Karvana.  We'll be playing with another great local band Lustre King.  This will be right on the heels of our trip to Charlotte for a return to The Evening Muse on March 14th.  If you're up for a road trip or have friends a bit up north, come on up and bring a crowd!

We've almost got all the dates hammered out to get back in the studio.  As our facebook fans are aware, we decided to head back into the studio again and scrap our previous recording sessions.  The down side is that it puts an album release several months away at best, the up side is that it's going to be a spectacular album.  Another plus is that we've been trickling out a few of the best tunes from our first session.  Make sure to check out the 'Hear' tab as well as myspace and facebook listings.

thanks, jcl

Hello again friends of JCL!  The usual apologies for 'long time no type' but good things are happening!  After a great holiday break, some soul searching (check the facebook group for the full details there), some new tune writing, some rehearsing, and some eager anticipation of SXSW application goodness, we're back and ready for 2009.  We really think Americana is going to take off this year and we're ready to lead the way.  We'll start off with a return to Eddie's Attic on January 30th and then we're planning a few shows around the SE.

As you can see the web site is undergoing some changes.  Some are in place and some are works in progress.  Look for new things on both the SEE and HEAR tabs in the next few weeks.  We'll also keep you up to date on album and show info as always.

Happy New Year everyone, we're looking forward to sharing it with you!

peace, jcl

Thanks to the folks who came out to Coffee Underground last weekend.  It's a beautiful city, a great venue, and we had a great trip up and back.  A good friend recently had less of a good trip though.  JCL listener and fan Ben sent us this picture.  He was apparently biking along, minding his own business, when out of the blue an "older American" (87 years old, blue hair, forehead at steering wheel level, left blinker on) creamed him from behind.  While we regret his injuries, we're glad to see the shirt was undamaged and hope that this particular picture was used in the police blotter of his local paper.

In less traumatic news we're really looking forward to rocking out a bit at Smith's next Wednesday.  Leave the kids at home for this one and we'll see you around 9 as we open up for LA band Shurman.  If that's not your speed then come find us on 9-28 at 11 AM at the Canton Riverfest.  Bring the kids and grandma (just make sure you drive)!  This was a great show last year and we're thrilled to be back.

thanks, jcl

 September 3, 2008

Hello and thanks for stopping by.  Hopefully you heard that we're giving away a demo copy of one of our newest tunes right off the mixing board, "8-29".  If you're wondering why the date rings a bell it's because that's the date that hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.  We figured with the hurricane season once again in full swing (and with Gustav hitting 3 years and 3 days later!) it was the least we could do to help remember those who struggled through it and remind ourselves of what was really important in life.  If you like it, please right click, save as, and then send it on to anybody you'd like.  It's not the fully mixed and mastered version that will be on the new album, but we still wanted to share and hope you will too.

Listen and download here.

While we're sharing some good news we're also pleased to let you know that Cade will be sticking with us.  We'd have all missed each other too much and are truly glad he's back.  We've also recently been joined by our good friend Johnny who will be adding a little guitar texture to the mix so be sure to check out our next few shows to see how things are getting better all the time.

thanks, jcl

We're just recovering from the spectacular trip we had up to the Holly Theater in Dahlonega.  The bus trip was a blast, the costumes back stage were even more fun, and the spiders even seemed to get into it.  Many thanks to those who made the trip with or without us and be sure to check the shows page for 3 shows next month!

If you signed up for the road trip you should have already gotten an email confirming details of the trip.  If you didn't, drop Tim a note at the address below.

If you didn't sign up, we just had to step up to a bigger bus which means we've got a few fresh seats open as of this morning.  Follow the directions below ASAP and we'll get you a ticket and a seat!
